Speechreading Classes We get frequent requests for speechreading (also called lipreading) classes in the San Diego area, but have been unable to locate any in the entire county. So we decided that offering these classes would become one of our priorities. We brought an experienced speechreading teacher to San Diego in June, 2005. She spent a long weekend training folks who want to teach speechreading. Those of us who attended that training are now able to teach the class when and where the need arises. We conducted our first course in Spring 2006 in Clairemont, and have been conducting classes at least annually ever since. 2009 Speechreading Course Begins October 3! Our 2009 Speechreading Class will be held for six consecutive Saturdays beginning on October 3 at the Clairemont Friendship Center at 4425 Bannock Ave., near the intersecton of Clairemont Mesa Blvd and Genesee. Classes are from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM. There is no charge for these classes, but we suggest a donation of $10 per session for those who can afford it. For
more information please contact: First Speechreading Course A Huge Success! Our first speechreading course was held on six Saturday mornings in the spring of 2006 at the Friendship Senior Center in Clairemont. We had a great turnout, and were thrilled to hear how much benefit people got from the course! We'll soon start planning for our next course! Second Speechreading Course Equally Successful! We conducted our second speechreading course in Linda Vista on Sunday afternoons in October and early November, 2006. It was also well attended by a host of interested and involved students! We'll start planning for our next course soon! Speechreading Course to be Provided Annually! With the continued success of our speechreading classes, we will be conducting them every fall, normally in October and the first two weeks of November. |
